What Is a Weld Neck Flange Desinged for?

A steel flange provides a method to prevent leakage and other damages and secure metal pipe. Option for the appropriate steel flange greatly depend on types of substance which flow through the piping system. A long weld neck flange is designed for residential, commercial and industrial piping systems.

Definition

    A steel pipe flange is used to strengthen, guide or attach one pipe to another. Standard steel flanges are disc shaped and are bolted or welded in place. Each steel flange is bored to receive and secure a specific size of pipe. Flange sizes, materials and opening dimensions vary depending upon what application the flange is designed for. Slip-on, socket-wired and threaded flanges are standard styles.

Details

    A long weld neck flange is considered as a specialty flange because of its protruding neck, also referred to as a hub. The neck extends from the flat surface of the flange and receives and guides the pipe into place — the neck serves as an extension of the boring. Tapering the neck provides extra reinforcement for use in high-pressure or extreme and fluctuating temperature applications. Tapering the flange reduces the steel's thickness so that the opening of the neck blends with the pipe it receives — the tapered neck appears to be an extension of the pipe.

Landee stainless steel ball valve with butt Weld ISO Mount

The stainless steel ball valve provides bubble-tight shutoff at 2000 psi. This valve is available with butt weld pipe connections and cast ISO mounting pad for actuation purposes. The reinforced PTFE 15% glass seat ring, Graphite stem packing and stainless steel ball/stem exhibit high chemical resistance properties and are recommended for process piping. The three-piece ball valve is recommended for petrochemical, utility service applications. It meets Fire Safe and Anti-Static requirements.
