How are Stainless Steel Pipes handle properly

Stainless steel is used for many different applications because of its non-corrosive surface, light weight, ease of cleaning and looks. Because of stainless steel's durable nature, there are few precautions to take when handling stainless steel pipes. There are, however, some guidelines to follow to ensure you get the most out of those pipes.

1.Wipe the Stainless Steel Pipes down with a clean rag and warm water to remove any dirt and oil from the surface. Dirt and oil can affect the corrosiveness of the pipes, so it is important to remove them before installation. After the pipe has been wiped down, rinse it with water and dry the pipe with a clean cloth.

2.Wear cloth or rubber gloves when handling stainless steel pipes to avoid leaving finger oil on the surface of the pipe. If any finger oil is present, clean the pipe as outlined.

3.Wrap the stainless steel pipes in butcher's paper when being stored to protect the surface of the pipes from contaminants. The cleaner the pipe's surface, the better it will hold up to corrosion when installed. If you notice contaminants on the pipe after storage, clean the pipe as outlined in Step 1.

4.Handle the pipe with care when moving and installing it, making sure to avoid causing defects in the steel's surface. Defects, including scratches and dings, can cause the pipes to corrode faster and decrease the life of the pipe. Also, do not paint stainless steel pipes as this can cause corrosion as well.

5.Install the steel pipe using whatever method necessary. If the pipe is exposed, you may clean the pipe with warm water (as outlined in Step 1) as often as you like to protect it from corroding, as stainless steel is not negatively affected by frequent cleaning.
